They’re a little smaller than the type of fish you’ll find in other lakes in this part of central Florida, but there are lots of them waiting to get caught in small fish by the fishermen who drift-fish in the middle from the lake and near Isla de los Pájaros. A lot of crappie also hang out in the Soldier Creek area and the north end of the lake, where it connects to the St. Johns River.

Lake Talquin (west of Tallahassee) Think about it. This 8,800 acre reservoir is just outside of Tallahassee. It’s the place where the brass top of the FWC goes fishing, which they know they’re going to make sure that this doll gets all the attention that can be used. No wonder the 3 pound state, 13 -oz kind of black fish was taken out of Lake Talquin? This lake has a lot of submerged logs and obstacles, so you do not want to go hot rod around it in a boat. But, if you want to catch some good type of fish, and that you are willing to meet the minimum limit of 10 inches, you will love it here.
